The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) organised a medical technology (medtech) trade mission to Singapore on 27 and 28 September 2018. Beroni Group was a participant in this mission and Mr. Jacky Zhang, Executive Chairman and Mr. Peter Wong, Executive Director both attended the conference.
The 2-day program was specifically designed to connect market-ready Australian medtech startups and scaleups to the broader Singapore health, medtech and innovation ecosystem. The mission also seeks to identify and capture emerging opportunities in ASEAN, leveraging Singapore as a launch pad to the region. This event was attended by the Australian Minister for Industry Science and Technology, Ms. Karen Andrews MP and the Singapore Minister for Finance, Mr. Heng Swee Keat.
During the conference, Mr. Zhang and Mr. Wong visited the Nanyang Technology University’s LKC School of Medicine and National University of Singapore’s NUHS Research Office and were given an insight into Singapore’s medtech engineering capability and the wide range of research facilities and services it offers to enhance basic and clinical research. They also visited ETPL, the commercialisation arm of A*STAR (the Agency for Science, Technology and Research) to study a few showcases of medtech collaboration models including shared R&D lab facilities, joint projects, academia and corporate partnerships.
The conference ended with a visit to SGInnovate, a venture capital arm of the Singapore Government specialising in start-up investment, to listen to a panel discussion on emerging trends, medtech innovations and opportunities in Australia and Singapore. Mr. Wong gave a presentation to introduce Beroni and its business development plans to an audience of Singapore venture capitalists, medtech and healthcare community.
